Letting Yourself Be Seen Through Movement

Over the weekend I had a really powerful breathwork experience. One of those moments where the message comes through so clearly that you cannot ignore it.
The message was simple. Stop holding back.
What I saw very clearly was how much I still hold myself in when it comes to expression. Especially through movement. Especially through dance.
I noticed how often I dance in a way that feels safer. Smaller. More controlled. Even when my body is wanting something else. More hips. More freedom. More messiness. And what stops me is a familiar voice. You do not know how you look. You might look dumb. Better keep it contained.
That moment showed me how this is not just about dance. It is about life.
As a single mom, working full time, running a household, building a business, managing money, and holding so many responsibilities, it is easy for me to slip into task mode. Doing what needs to get done. Checking things off. Moving from one thing to the next.
When that happens, fun and joy quietly fall to the bottom of the list.

What came through for me was not some big dramatic change. It was the idea of bringing more play and expression into everyday life. Dancing more. Moving my body freely in small moments. Letting my voice be heard. Letting myself take up space.
From a somatic perspective, this matters. When we constantly hold ourselves in, our bodies stay in a low level state of tension. Expression through movement helps release that tension and reminds the nervous system that it is safe to be seen and felt.
Ecstatic dance has been one of the places where I practice this. It gives me a container to let my body lead instead of my mind. To move how I actually want to move, even when it feels uncomfortable at first. To notice the stories that come up and choose not to let them run the show.
This is what Daydream is really about. Not performing. Not doing it right. But practicing expression, presence, and play in a supportive space.
You do not have to change your whole life. Sometimes it is about letting yourself move a little more freely right where you are.
If this resonates with you, I would love for you to come dance with us.
