Moments I Feel Like a Bad Mom (and Why That Means I'm Actually a Good One)

There are moments that stop me in my tracks—not because they’re perfect, but because they’re painfully, beautifully real.
Microwaving nuggets again because I’m too tired to cook.
Washing the dishes while she waits for me to play.
Letting screen time stretch longer than I intended.
Pushing bedtime just a little later.
Being there, but not really present.
In these moments, the voice of guilt creeps in:
“Shouldn’t I be doing more?”
“Shouldn’t I be more patient, more creative, more… everything?”

But here’s what I remind myself—and what I share with every client I support as a somatic coach and Reiki practitioner:
I am a good mom.
Because I care.
Because I show up.
Some days are soft.
Some are messy.
All of them are real.
Motherhood doesn’t need you to be perfect.
It asks you to be loving, to be present enough, and to repair when you miss the mark.
And if you're reading this, feeling that familiar ache of “not enough”—I want to tell you:
You are not alone.
You are doing better than you think.
You are already what your child needs.
Let’s talk. If you’re navigating burnout, guilt, or emotional overload—I offer free 1:1 consultations to help you find groundedness and breath in your motherhood journey.
