When Positive Change Still Feels Overwhelming

There’s a lot of movement right now.

Astrologically and collectively, it’s a big week. A new moon. An eclipse. The start of the lunar new year. The Year of the Horse brings momentum and forward motion.

And even when change is something we want, it can still feel like a lot in the body.

This is something I’ve lived.

When I got divorced, moved into my own home, and started my business, I was choosing a life that felt true for me. I was doing the things I had been wanting to do.

And my nervous system still got overwhelmed.

I got sick.

I developed eczema.

I needed more rest than I thought I should.

There were parts of me still attached to my old life simply because it was familiar. Even though I wasn’t happy there, it was known. And the body likes what’s known.

Your nervous system is wired for familiarity, not fulfillment.

So when you step into something new, even something aligned and exciting, your body can respond with stress before it responds with celebration.

That doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice. It means your system is adjusting.

Growth Is Physiological

We tend to think of growth as a mindset shift. A decision. A breakthrough.

But growth is also physiological.

Your body has to catch up to the life you’re building. It has to learn that this new version of your life is safe.

Sometimes that looks like needing more sleep.

Sometimes it looks like feeling emotional.

Sometimes it looks like wanting to retreat.

None of that is failure. It’s integration.

Supporting the Body Through Change

This is why I care so much about somatic work and energy work.

Somatic practices help the nervous system feel safe inside change instead of bracing against it. Reiki supports the body in softening and recalibrating when everything feels heightened.

This is what I support my clients with.

If you’re in a season of change right now, and it feels both right and overwhelming, you’re not alone.

Your body isn’t sabotaging you.

It’s asking for support.

If this speaks to you, I would love to chat.
